Saturday, May 21, WCG beekeepers, Steve Ewing and Becky Stemper, celebrated World Bee Day by setting up a booth at Urban Harvest Farmers Market to showcase WCG’s apiary.
A frame of working bees from one of our hives was placed in a ventilated plexiglas case so visitors could see the bees doing their work. Both kids and adults are intrigued by honeybees and the display had a steady stream of visitors watching the bees and talking beekeeping. Kids had fun trying on the bee jackets and veils.
Many visitors made donations to WCG’s apiary program.
It was a good day for our beekeeper ambassadors to show off our honeybees and increase awareness about reducing lawn pesticides and providing healthy habitats for bees.
