Willow Waterhole MusicFest

Saturday, April 9, was a beautiful day for an outdoor festival. Bluebonnets were in full bloom on the hillside and hundreds of visitors will attest, the music was stellar and the food trucks were outstanding at the Willow Waterhole MusicFest. There was plenty to see, hear, and do!

Westbury Community Garden once again had a booth for community interaction on happenings at the garden. This year our teaching focus was twofold – herbal teas and other uses for herbs and native plants for pollinator support.

The garden had a number of potted native plant seedlings and some packaged native flower seeds that donors could choose as a thank you gift for making a $10 donation to the garden.

Other donor thank you gifts included herbal tea blends, some calming, some invigorating, and some that provide great immune support. Other herbal related gifts were catnip toys, decorated by WCG gardener and artist, Kate G., and lavender sachet bags.

Fiori florist, Lisa Wright, donated a spectacular arrangement filled with vegetables, herbs, and flowers and many smaller equally beautiful flower arrangements in colored Mason jars.

The Willow Waterhole MusicFest was great fun and was an excellent opportunity for community outreach by the garden. Many people signed up to learn more about membership opportunities, volunteer days, and many wanted to learn about beekeeping at WCG. The event was also a very successful fundraising day.
