The Teach For America Volunteer group came to WCG this morning, Nov 7, 2019, to work in the Butterfly Gardens. Tasks performed :
- pruned Coneflowers & Red Texas Star Hibiscus ( gathering seed heads to share with other gardeners)
- clipped flower heads from Tropical Milkweed throughout the Garden, to encourage late migrating Monarch Butterflies to feed on other nectar plants without breeding, as they move south to a Mexico.
- weeded Bermuda & more large clumps of unwanted grasses.
This was the first of TFA’s visit to WCG; hopefully the 1st of many! Thank you Carla Chambers & all of your group.
