The Westbury Community Garden was fortunate to again have booth space at the Willow Waterhole MusicFest on October 30. This one-day event was the first in two years due to COVID-19 cancellations. The gorgeous weather, awesome music, and outstanding food trucks made for an super-fun, family event.
WCG’s booth featured our new Apiary. Beekeeper, Steve Ewing, entertained kids and adults all day long with a brood frame and plenty of worker bees in an observation case. Visitors were able to see the bees working through the Plexiglas panels. The bees had air vents but were not able to escape the enclosure. The kids also enjoyed trying on the beekeeper jacket.
In addition, the garden conducted a successful fund-raiser, giving away bottles of organic Humming Bee Honey as thanks for each $10 donation to the garden.
It was a great opportunity to talk about WCG and connect with so many in the community.
