On Saturday, May 18, at 10:00 AM WCG will celebrate World Bee Day with education for the whole family on honeybees and the many solitary native bees that are so vital for pollinating our flowers and food.
Come and see honeybees at work when our WCG beekeeper places one frame of honeycomb into a safe, plexiglass observation hive. Learn about native bees and how to support them with natural nooks and crannies or small bee habitats in your yard.
In addition, WCG will have a mini-fundraiser with honey and beeswax products for sale. There will be
- hyper-local Westbury honey (from B2B Honey Collective)
- infused hot honey (Houston-based Lone Star Honey)
- Honey-Almond artisan soap
- Beeswax Lip Balm in plastic-free tubes, flavors or plain (Kobee’s)
- Persian Baklava Cake (home/cottage baker)
- Traditional Baklava (Phoenicia Specialty Foods)
