Michigan Tech Volunteers

A small crew of students from northern Michigan gave two mornings of volunteer work at the garden on March 9 and 11.  They came down for the warm weather and learned about fire ants.  They cleaned up sugar cane and trees in front of PIF and brush along the apartment boundary, installed a metal edging for a trail on the prairie and further helped clean up leaf bags along the south side of PIF.  In turn, Farmer Pierre told them about his move to the U.S. from Africa and his farming interests.  The students had to cut short their stay in Houston because of the closing of their school due to the Covid-19 virus.
