Testing The Water Lines

Testing the water lines – drip irrigation in action.

You may have noticed that work is progressing on building the Tree Farm at Westbury Community Garden, east of the North 40.  The plumbing lines have been laid, the new pots are ready to go, the trees have been delivered, and palettes of bagged soil (donated by Scotts’ Miracle Gro) is on site.

June 25th at 8AM, volunteers arrived from Trees for Houston and Scotts’ Miracle Gro to get approximately 170 trees “bumped up” into 12-gallon pots and set up for drip irrigation.

We can always use a few extra hands (especially since we may be racing the weather), so if you’d like to help out, come on down!

This tree farm will be a much-needed addition to the “re-greening” of Westbury in the coming months and years.

WCG members: Don’t forget to log your volunteer hours in the kiosk or online.
