May 20th is World Bee Day – a time to celebrate the importance native bees and honeybees.
Westbury Community Garden will observe World Bee Day on Saturday, May 18, from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM.
World Bee Day will have fun learning opportunities for kids and adults alike.
A frame of honeycomb with live working bees from the WCG apiary will be on display in a safe, ventilated plexiglass observation hive. Additionally, we’ll have info about what homeowners can do to support honeybees, native bees, and other pollinators at home.
Kids will have fun with a bee-themed invisible ink painting project and a pollination activity. Adults will enjoy a selection of honey and beeswax products in a mini-fundraiser that will support garden operations.
Fundraiser products include
Hyper-local Westbury Honey from Bee2Bee Honey Collective
Lone Star Bee’s Chili-infused Honey
Kobee’s Lip Balm in compostable non-plastic tubes
Honey Almond Artisan Soap
Traditional Baklava
Persian Baklava Cake
