March 22, 2025 will mark an important milestone at Westbury Community Garden. WCG will celebrate 15 years as an urban agriculture green space in Westbury.
As a testament to our success, among our 77 garden members, 12 are founding members who joined and built the community garden in 2010! Three others aren’t currently gardening but are still involved with the day-to-day garden operations.
To celebrate, Saturday, March 22, will start off with The Founders’ Breakfast in the Garden from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The catered breakfast and juice bar will feature a terrific keynote speaker. Renown Houston conservationist and environmental educator, Jaime Gonzalez, will join us to talk about the importance of native green spaces in the urban landscape and how healthy air, water, soil, and climate are connected to healthy animals, biodiversity and the physical, mental, cultural, spiritual, and financial health of people.
Tickets to the Founders’ Breakfast are on sale now! You can purchase a ticket and reserve your seat for a $100 donation to Westbury Community Garden here up until March 9, 2025. At the breakfast, donors will receive a WCG coffee mug and a gift bag filled with other garden delights.
The Founders’ Breakfast will also honor the 2024-2025 sponsors and grant funders who have provided $1000 or more in support of the community garden operations. A new sign will be unveiled to demonstrate our ongoing gratitude for the support we receive from the Westbury and Greater Houston communities.
