You can help Westbury Community Garden

We need donors like you to thrive as a community asset and meet our mission year after year.

Monetary Donations

Monetary donations are tax deductible. In 2013, neighbors and friends of the garden pulled together to raise capital when the garden property was in danger of being lost. The lease on the land is now secure, but our financial needs continue. We keep our membership dues low to remain accessible but this means more than half our operating expenses come from other sources, including grants and private donations.

Corporate Donations, Grants and Volunteerism

In 2020 – 2025, we’ve entered on the next phase of growth at Westbury Community Garden as we raise funds to implement Phase 1 of our Master Plan. Planned infrastructure improvements to the property include

  • a new entrance
  • a U-shaped permeable driveway
  • new pervious parking areas
  • creation of bioswales to guide rainwater through the property rather than into storm drains
  • improvements to drainage in the garden aisles

Donations-in-Kind

WCG is grateful to the many corporate groups who work along with us on outdoor projects. These days of service and the enthusiastic volunteers that come out provide significant manpower to get jobs done. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator or check our Event Calendar for our monthly community service days.

Our Sponsors and Partners page acknowledges corporate grants and donations the garden has received.

Honor and Memorial gifts are wonderful tributes that support the mission of Westbury Community Garden. See Our Wish List for items that fit our long range plans. Please contact the Planning committee for approval of items not listed.

Gardening Within Reach Project

WCG is converting a row of 12 8″ high raised garden beds to sitting/standing height for gardeners who need easier access. The finished bi-level bed will have an 18″ high section and a 34″ high section. The blocks and reinforcement are $500 per bed. Soil to fill a bi-level bed is $300. It takes a group of 8-12 people about 3-4 hours to complete one garden conversion.

Can your scout troop, organization, or company underwrite the building of one sit/stand garden for $800? Do you have a group of 8-12 who can do the build?

We are looking for both monetary support and volunteers to accomplish 4 garden conversions in 2024. If your group can’t do both the funding and the build, we will match your project with a donor group who can do the other part. Garden members will supervise and pitch in. We would love to work with your organization!

Contact the Outreach committee to work out the schedule.
